They have learned much about design and structure. We have used these materials to explore and create shapes to support our math unit on shapes. I wish you could have seen them when we incorporated the robotic element to the 'Build a helpful tool\" challenge I presented in our Simple Machines unit. \r\n Because Straw-bees are a novelty to my students they will often choose to play with them when there is free time or indoor recess. They have created astronaut \"helmets\" to zip lines for the plastic creatures available in the classroom.
