Read aloud is one of my favorite times of the school day. These resources will allow students to learn reading skills through multi-cultural literature that addresses ways to overcome obstacles. I want students to see that everyone faces adversity in their lives and give them messages of hope for their lives and for our world. These culturally diverse books will allow my students to see the world from various perspectives. Our country is in crisis, but we must not lose our message of hope for future generations. Regardless of what is going on in our world, I feel it is important for my students to find the commonalities between themselves and those who may be different from them. I am committed to making this school year a positive experience for students as we focus on not just tolerating others, but embracing our differences and working together to make the world a better place. These resources would create awareness of other cultures and carry out the spirit of hope all students.
