When the materials arrived, the excitement in the classroom was immediate. Students were especially thrilled to help assemble care bags for people in need. They carefully placed the donated toothbrushes into each bag and helped add warm items like hats and gloves, knowing that these small acts could make a big difference for someone else.\r\n\r\nOne of the most powerful moments for our students was seeing photos and videos of the completed bags being delivered to Salvation Army locations throughout Richmond and handed directly to individuals in need. That connection made the project feel real and personal. Students shared how proud they felt knowing they had helped someone stay warm and take care of themselves. Many expressed that this was the first time they truly felt they had made an impact beyond the classroom.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our learning, students are reflecting on the importance of service, empathy, and community responsibility. This experience has inspired meaningful conversations and a strong desire to continue helping others. They are already talking about doing a similar project again next year. Thank you for giving our students this unforgettable experience and for allowing them to see the power of kindness in action.","fullyFundedDate":1764699181859,"projectUrl":"project/giving-back-to-the-community-as-a-school/9901107/","projectTitle":"Giving Back to the Community as a School","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Broccoli","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8984744_orig.jpg?crop=583,583,x0,y29&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1763504008445","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8984744"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_34177","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":859,"numTeachers":36,"percentFrplEligible":93,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":29,"percentWhite":17,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":42,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"23.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":69.3,"schoolId":34177,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Elizabeth Holladay Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Elizabeth Holladay Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/virginia/henrico-county-public-schools/elizabeth-holladay-elementary-school/34177"}
