We are so thankful to our donors for their generosity! My students were all so excited the first day they came to music after receiving the drums. Our students K-2 have already been able to use the drums for lessons involving steady beat and rhythm. \r\n\r\nLooking forward, I am planning to begin a drum unit with 2nd grade in our third quarter. We will focus primarily on rhythm, but also the skill of ensemble playing. I also plan to use them with my upper grades as they're excited about them too! They ask when we're going to get to use them all the time.\r\n\r\nOnce again, we are so appreciative to our donors. From the moment my students saw it, their faces lit up—they rushed over to choose their \"spot!\" They commented on how soft, colorful, and inviting it felt. We now begin each morning together on the rug for community circle time and it has already transformed our routines. Students settle in more quickly, participate more confidently, and feel a stronger sense of belonging in our shared space.\r\n\r\nWe've also integrated the rug into our small-group lessons, story time, and independent workshop. One of my favorite moments so far was watching a group of students spread out during a reading/writing activity, completely engaged and comfortable as they identified main idea and key details. The rug has given us a defined, cozy gathering place that supports focus, collaboration, and academic choice.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our current units in literacy, this rug will serve as our meeting place for hands-on activities, shared reading, and collaborative discussions. Your support didn't just give us a classroom item; it gave us a space where students can connect, grow, and feel at home in their learning.
