I ran out of dish soap the same day new dish soap arrived! It may not be very glamorous, but in a Biology classroom with 120 students, we just run out of everything so fast. Some students took turns sharpening pencils with our new sharpener, excited about how well it worked and how quiet it is. Once again, it's the little things!\r\nWe played a Kahoot to prepare for our test on DNA, and I was able to offer the winners more variety for prizes. The kids said, \"Ms. Shoe, you finally got some good snacks!\" I was also able to give hungry students snacks who came to me throughout the day, which I wasn't able to do before. Many of my Muslim students will skip lunch if they are worried it might not be Halal. The school does a good job of preparing Halal food, but students will always go hungry rather than risk it, so it helps to have something on hand for them.\r\nI'm really proud of the progress students have made in Biology class this year. They created a model of DNA transcribed to RNA and translated to protein, and I posted their projects on the bulletin board. They also created a stop motion video of the cell cycle, and I included some pictures of their work here. They're doing a great job, and it's a little easier, thanks to your help.","fullyFundedDate":1731528731486,"projectUrl":"project/biology-honors-and-esol-need-some-basic/8920706/","projectTitle":"Biology Honors and ESOL Need Some Basic Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Shoemaker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9119354_orig.jpg?crop=3647,3647,x1222,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1691356240110","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9119354"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_34678","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1438,"numTeachers":101,"percentFrplEligible":64,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":27,"percentWhite":40,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":14,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"14.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":57.3,"schoolId":34678,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Charlottesville High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Charlottesville High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/virginia/charlottesville-city-school-district/charlottesville-high-school/34678"}
