Because of your kindness, our classroom now has a wonderful collection of STEM-related books that inspire curiosity, creativity, and deepen scientific understanding for all of my students.\r\n\r\nI begin each science class with a read aloud. Many of these donated STEM books present problems to solve or show how inventors/engineers overcame failure like The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes and The Beautiful Ooops. These books helps students develop a growth mindset and think like scientists.\r\n\r\nOther books relate to content we are covering in class. We read Newton and Curie the Science Squirrels and made catapults just like the squirrels in the story to discuss force and motion.\r\n\r\nWe are truly grateful for your investment in our classroom. The kids' faces lit up as soon as they entered the classroom and saw the pillows. They were so excited that they had a choice as to where and how they could sit. From reading and math problem-solving on their own to writing using our Single Paragraph Outlines and even test-taking, these pillows have assisted students in remaining more comfortable and focused. It is incredible the difference that something so basic can make. Students are no longer distracted by being uncomfortable, and they can't wait to get settled into learning.\r\n\r\nOne of the strongest impacts that I have observed is the way the pillows have fostered additional reading within our independent reading block. Students are always eager to grab a pillow and find a quiet spot to read a book, and I've noticed a definite increase in their stamina and engagement. The classroom also has a more welcoming and student-friendly atmosphere now, and this has promoted motivation in all subject areas. We even do class projects with them; students just organize themselves, work together, and remain on task so much more easily.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this possible. Your contribution has added more joy, choice, and engagement to our learning space. As we continue on with our units in reading, writing, and mathematics, these pillows will continue to aid students in feeling confident, calm, and prepared to learn each day.","fullyFundedDate":1724873860355,"projectUrl":"project/getting-comfortable-and-cozy-in-the-read/8613747/","projectTitle":"Getting Comfortable and Cozy in the Reading Corner","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Echevarria","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9641853"},{"teacherId":2641216,"projectId":8743266,"letterContent":"I hope this letter finds you well. On behalf of my students and myself, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation to our classroom. Your support has provided us with social-emotional curriculum materials, social-emotional tools, and fine motor tools that will have a lasting impact on the growth and development of my students.\r\n\r\nThese resources are invaluable in helping my students build essential skills that go far beyond the classroom. The social-emotional materials and tools will empower them to better understand and manage their emotions, develop empathy, and build meaningful connections with others. These skills are foundational for their success in school and in life.\r\n\r\nThe fine motor tools are equally vital, providing my students with opportunities to strengthen their coordination and dexterity while engaging in hands-on activities. These tools make learning fun and accessible, especially for those who need a little extra support in developing these skills.\r\n\r\nYour kindness not only enhances our classroom environment but also shows my students that there are people who truly care about their education and well-being. Your generosity inspires both me and my students to give our best every day.\r\n\r\nThe materials provided through this project have been a critical asset in achieving my goal of enhancing student learning and development. By intentionally planning lessons that incorporate these resources, I am seeing measurable progress in my students' mastery of their IEP goals and overall growth. This approach not only supports their academic achievement but also prepares them for lifelong success.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in the importance of education and for making a difference in the lives of my students.
