Because of your donation, we were able to launch meaningful attendance incentive programs that have made a real difference in our school community.\r\n\r\nOne of the key ways your support was used was through our kindergarten attendance prize cart. Kindergarten students have historically been one of our highest-need groups when it comes to chronic absenteeism. Last year alone, about 17% of kindergarten students were chronically absent. With your help, we were able to bring weekly incentives directly into classrooms. Each week, students who had perfect attendance were eligible to win a prize from the cart. This created real excitement around attendance. Students began looking forward to being present every day, and many even encouraged their families to help them get to school on time so they wouldn't miss a chance to participate.\r\n\r\nWe also used prizes for our school-wide display case and \"Golden Ticket\" days. On these days, all students who were present and on time were entered into a raffle to win prizes. These moments quickly became something students looked forward to, and we saw increased motivation to attend school regularly. In addition, the prizes supported larger school-wide attendance competitions, including events like March Madness and Winter Olympics-themed challenges. These friendly competitions helped build school spirit while reinforcing the importance of showing up every day.\r\n\r\nThanks to these combined efforts and your support, our chronic absenteeism rate has decreased from 12% last school year to 8% this year. We truly believe these improvements are directly connected to the tier 1 incentive systems your donation made possible.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in our students and helping us build a culture where attendance is celebrated and rewarded.","fullyFundedDate":1770244662201,"projectUrl":"project/small-rewards-big-impact-boosting-atte/9794122/","projectTitle":"Small Rewards, Big Impact: Boosting Attendance Together","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Guevara","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9716369"},{"teacherId":9577983,"projectId":10116575,"letterContent":"Your generous donation helped make our Girls on the Run community service project truly special. The new texts have helped introduce important early literacy skills such as vocabulary development, comprehension, retelling stories, identifying characters and feelings, and making connections between the story and their own lives. The character and safety-themed books have also helped students better understand classroom expectations, kindness, teamwork, and school safety routines in a calm and child-friendly way.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is interactive, engaging, and filled with conversation. Students gather together on the carpet to listen to stories, participate in discussions, and practice new vocabulary in both languages. Many students enjoy turning and talking with classmates about what they notice in the illustrations or how a character might be feeling. After reading, students extend their learning through crafts, drawing, and early writing activities connected to the books. These hands-on experiences help make learning memorable and meaningful while strengthening creativity and fine motor skills.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who were shy at the beginning of the year have especially connected with the new books and activities. Some feel more confident participating because they can relate to the bilingual stories and classroom discussions. Others have found comfort in the safety and character books, which have helped them feel more secure and positive about coming to school each day.
