The Giving Tree is based on experiences in our Tree Study Curriculum in which children explore the many ways a tree contributes to our well being. The life cycle puzzle and wobble cushion will be used for our small group and on the floor teachings. The wobble seats will also help children focus on the lesson during intentional teaching. The animal and nature poster will serves as visuals around the room during the tree unit.
The children will participate in a 6-week study exploring where trees come from, how they are important to our environment, what people and animals eat from trees and what we use in our classroom that comes from trees.
The laminating pouches will be used to make adaptive books for my students to use in the library and explore without damaging. The USB disks will be used to collect data and save pictures on during the duration of the study to share what the students are learning. The nursery rhyme flip chart and positions/opposites game is where literacy and movement will be added to the classroom as the children make connections about trees during large group time.
The block tree set and tree rings will be used for children to make their own tree creations. The children will have opportunities to use materials that come from trees to serve as a take away that they can share with their families. This tree study will provide students with hands on experiences at school as they explore the world around them. Trees are everywhere, trees have a purpose and the children will have a new appreciation for trees.
