My fourth and fifth graders can not wait to use them to see the results of evaporation of salt water. Younger students keep collecting insects, stones, and other small things that they want to examine. My desk is topped with small items awaiting inspection. Students are more engaged and learning because they are adding to our learning and their items are allow them ownership of learning.\r\n\r\nAll of my classes have several students who either need a fidget or alternative work space. Having clipboards has allowed students to spread out and work productively. Something small in their hands allows them to remain focused without disruption. My fidget basket starts each class full and finds it's way to empty each period. \r\n\r\nEvery donation has allowed science in my class to be stronger and more accessible to all learners. Every week, my students have a Technology Education class, where they learned about helpful tools on computers and fun, educational games. This class often required students to listen to things, or create their own projects where they needed to go back and listen to. Before headphones, the classroom would get very loud and it would be very hard to listen to a singular students' work because there were so many other computers playing sounds. However, with the headphones, students can now listen at their own pace and their own volume and, best of all, I can dedicate time to each student to hear their creations. \r\n\r\nIn addition to technology class, have headphones has allowed students of all abilities to access the curriculum. I have many students who are reading below a 4th grade level. Having headphones enabled me to make readings and assignments available for students to listen to, instead of reading. This has made a huge difference in how much more students can access the mainstream curriculum. These headphones helped me make sure that my lessons were accessible for all students, regardless of level or ability. \r\n\r\nAll of this would not have been possible without your donation, so I just want to thank you again for your kindness and generosity in helping my students access the curriculum and enjoy educational games and videos.","fullyFundedDate":1729031977591,"projectUrl":"project/headphones-for-reading-listening-and-sp/8868826/","projectTitle":"Headphones for Reading, Listening and Speaking!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Dieterle","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9345201"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_35189","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":474,"numTeachers":42,"percentFrplEligible":73,"percentAsian":19,"percentBlack":22,"percentWhite":43,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"11.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":66.5,"schoolId":35189,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about John F Kennedy Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"John F Kennedy Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/vermont/winooski-school-district-17/john-f-kennedy-elementary-school/35189"}
