We use them throughout the day for math practice, vocabulary, spelling, review games, and quick checks for understanding. In math especially, students are able to work through a problem, hold up their boards, and receive immediate feedback. This allows me to quickly see who understands a concept and who may need a little extra support, while giving every student an opportunity to participate.\r\n\r\nMy students were so excited to see the new materials! They especially love being able to write, erase, and try again without worrying about making a permanent mistake on their paper. The whiteboards have helped make practice feel more like an activity than an assignment, and I have noticed that even students who may be hesitant to raise their hands are much more willing to show their thinking on a whiteboard. They also make our classroom games and review activities much more engaging and allow every student to participate at the same time.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through fourth grade, these materials will be used almost every day as we tackle new and increasingly challenging skills. We will continue using them during math instruction and intervention, reading and vocabulary practice, review games, and whole-class activities. Having enough whiteboard supplies for everyone gives my students another way to practice, make mistakes, learn from those mistakes, and keep trying.
