Either way, the thought that you care enough about a public school and a public school teacher to give your hard-earned money to us astounds me. We teachers are used to being forgotten in terms of so many supports that I was floored to receive such quick help to solve my problem. \r\n\r\nHighland is a very old school in Salt Lake City, and the book room is full of books...that no one teaches anymore. We are overflowing with unusable/unwanted supplies. This year, I took on a new course teaching IB Literature to the very top kids in the school. I was tasked with finding texts from all over the world, and this is where our book room was lacking in good options. I read Cry, The Beloved Country when I was in high school, and the impact of this book about South Africa has impacted the rest of my life. You have now allowed me to share that impact with the next generation. Color sticks to the mind way better than black and white. \r\n\r\nThe kids are excited to be offered something that looks good and that would not otherwise be offered to them. \r\n\r\nThank you for helping me make my vision a reality and for valuing what I do and for the future leaders of our communities.","fullyFundedDate":1756500944652,"projectUrl":"project/incentivize-and-remind-keys-to-long-ter/9632828/","projectTitle":"Incentivize and Remind: Keys to Long Term Therapy engagement.","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jessica","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5750802_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755725841223","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5750802"},{"teacherId":1144200,"projectId":9582054,"letterContent":"Thank you very much for the Legos. While I have only used them in my Calculus course so far, I have been brainstorming how I can connect Legos to my other classes curriculum.\r\n\r\nMy next step is to use the Legos for another small project, building the strongest bridge for all my classes. The school I am in is very old to the point they are actually looking at rebuilding it. The feel in here is so different and any of the staff who come in, say as much. Thank you so much for helping me create a calming vibe.\r\n\r\nWhat I am super excited about is the anxiety kit maker box. It has already been used and it's only the second week of school. Kids can come in and choose 3-4 items to put in their kit along with instruction/reminder cards so that they have access to support right in their backpack. The snacks were tapped into the day they got here. Kids don't eat breakfast anymore.\r\n\r\nShout out to Salt Lake Education Foundation. It is appreciated so much by myself and my students. We really enjoy using them this quarter. They were very excited that they got to use these new books.\r\n\r\nThese graphic novels are helping students immensely with their comprehension of the play. They are able to follow the story better with the help of the pictures they can reference. I can point to a section/picture and ask them to describe mood, setting, character development, and so much more. We also have an interactive motion comic disc that allows us to watch the graphic novel come to life. We have been switching between the novels and the disc and it has been very successful. \r\n\r\nWith some extra funds left over from your donations, were also able to purchase a set of No Fear Macbeth books for the class. These books have the original text of the play side by side with a modern English translation. They have been so helpful for the students who are struggling with the language.\r\n\r\nAgain, thank you so much for your kindness and donations to our classroom! The fidget toys are also used during sessions to help with ADHD or anxiety symptoms. \r\n\r\nI have also had many students take snacks during our sessions, which they greatly appreciate. It also helps us have a better session since they are not as hungry.
