One group designed a balloon-powered car and literally cheered when it traveled farther than their first attempt. Another group experimented with wind-up toys and started debating why changing the surface made a difference. Those moments were everything I hoped for. They weren't just completing an assignment. They were questioning, testing, revising, and thinking like real scientists.\r\n\r\nThe best part was watching their confidence grow. Some students who are usually quiet during whole-group lessons were suddenly leading design conversations in their teams. When something didn't work, they didn't shut down. They adjusted and tried again. That resilience is hard to teach with paper and pencil alone, but hands-on materials made it natural.\r\n\r\nNext, we are moving into a deeper engineering design challenge.
