My energetic kindergarteners enter the classroom each day ready to learn, discover, and explore, but sitting on a hard chair or legs-crossed on the floor throughout the day can be uncomfortable and distracting. One way to help with this is to provide my students with additional seating options where they can be comfortable while being engaged using the tools and manipulatives, that I'm also requesting, for a hands-on learning environment.
My goal is to create a classroom that will motivate excellent learning for all students.
Manipulatives are physical tools of teaching, engaging students visually and physically with objects. Using these manipulatives for the essential elements will give students hands-on for math and English by having better visuals. Anything that my students can use to pick up, handle, move around will help with their concrete learning.
I also want to provide incentives for my students to reward good behavior and progress. Providing incentives can help them to feel more confident when they see the results and consequences of them making good choices in school.
