It has made a huge difference in how my assistant can teach!\r\n She uses one side for her SIPPS (reading) wall. It holds all the little picture/letter posters of the sound spellings. She uses it daily with her reading classes. It is so helpful that she can just pull the whiteboard close to her u table and point to the sound poster needed instead of having to get up and walk to the window like she was doing. \r\n On the other side, she is able to use the different colored dry erase markers with her math classes. Having multiple colors is so great for showing the sequences of solving math problems. She is also able to leave a lesson from one day to the next, which is so helpful for her. Because the whiteboard isn't behind her table on the wall, it is easier for students to come up to participate in the group lesson. The students love getting to have a space where they can participate. \r\n The size is perfect for the space we have. Having it on rollers allows us to move it around to where we need it. Our principal is so happy with how it has improved our efficiency in teaching. This has really a blessing in our teaching lives. When the students found this out, they were excited and even more so when they learned that the materials they saw arrive were a part of this lesson. Your generous donation not only provided materials for my class, but for the other two classes as well. There were over 60 happy fourth grade students that benefited from this donation. The solar ovens were a big hit, and they learned a lot about solar energy.\r\n\r\nWe have not yet been able to use the copper tape, batteries, diodes and geodes yet, but we will be soon. The students are going to make a haunted castle picture and make some part of it light up using the copper tape, batteries and diodes. In a later language arts unit, the students will be studying about rocks and that is when we will open up the geodes. Their versatility has made lessons more interactive, and students are more engaged when practicing writing or answering questions. The trays have also been a great addition, particularly during science experiments. The raised edges help keep materials contained, which has made cleanup much easier and experiments more manageable.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the laminator has been an incredibly useful tool. It was a gasp of air followed by much excitement with each class. They all crowded around and had a hard time waiting for their turn to get close enough to see all the new items.\r\n Each day they are working hard to earn their class money and count it almost every class to see if they have earned enough for the item they chose first. They are also anxiously hoping that their second choice item will still be there when it is time to choose another item. \r\n I have never had such a well stocked classroom store and it is especially nice this year to have had help stocking it because we are having a wedding in November and those are expensive! I am so appreciative that I don't have to go home each weekend trying to remember to find less expensive items to buy to stock the store. With this grant, we had small skeleton and body models that went along with our human body unit, allowing the children to visualize what we were reading about. \r\n\r\nThe hit of this grant was the supplies for our unit on light and sound. The students were able to use flashlights, prisms, tuning forks and a black light - these helped increase engagement & they loved knowing they'd be able to do a small experiment each day.\r\n\r\nIn addition to the aforementioned supplies, we received wobble cushions and round seat cushions that the students who need a bit of extra movement, can use daily. These impact of these cushions may go unnoticed by the students, but the ability for them to have movement & comfort while in their seats is invaluable.
