Students have gone from learning the basics of fly tying in the classroom to actually tying their own flies and then putting their new skills to the test at Strawberry Reservoir. There is something incredibly rewarding about watching a student carefully create a fly with their own hands, cast it into the water, and then catch a fish using something they made themselves. The excitement and pride they feel in those moments is unforgettable.\r\nWhat makes this class especially meaningful is the way it brings students from many different walks of life together around a shared experience. For a few hours, the focus isn't on where they come from or what challenges they may be facing—it is on learning a new skill, being outside, working together, and experiencing nature. Students are learning about fish and their habitats, responsible recreation, and the importance of taking care of the places we enjoy. They are also learning patience, perseverance, and the value of trying something unfamiliar.\r\nOur next steps are to continue building their fly-tying skills and expanding their knowledge of fishing, conservation, and the natural world. We hope to give students even more opportunities to get outside, practice what they have learned, and develop a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors. Thank you for helping make an experience possible that our students genuinely look forward to—it has become something special at our school.","fullyFundedDate":1787930155766,"projectUrl":"project/tie-it-cast-it-catch-it-fishing-skill/10514756/","projectTitle":"Tie It.
