I work with students from Kindergarten to sixth grade, seeing every kid in the school. That equates to 900 kids! One of the units that has been especially popular is the fifth grade puppet making and then puppet presentation. I exhausted my supplies last year so am grateful for the donation of google eyes and pom poms that will be used for this project. The students will be deciding on a subject they could teach to a Kindergarten class like opposites, counting, ABCs, Rhyming, making friends, etc. They then create their own unique puppets for that presentation. It truly means the world to my students and I. I fully believe that kindergarteners can learn so much through games, puzzles, reading, and interacting with one another. When the items I requested arrived the student's face lit up with excitement and anticipation of using them. We opened everything right away and went over the rules of use for each item. We are loving everything! We are using our new materials everyday. We use them during math, free choice time, reading and writing time, and we even use them to learn how to compromise and get along well with others when playing games. My students have learned to cooperate and use their communication skills while putting a large floor puzzle together. Math activities are more exciting with different kind of dice. We have also loved playing the games in small groups to reinforce the skills we are learning in math and reading. \r\nThank you again for donating to this project. Using all the donations I was able to teach my students about a person who impacted our nation. We learned about many heros by reading the books together. Then we discussed what we read using story structure. \r\n Then I let them try on their own. Students started by reading a book about their chosen person. They would fill in their worksheet on story structure. After reading, students were allowed to use their headphones to watch videos or documentaries about their person. \r\n Students learned so much and used the information they learned to make a stop motion video of their person.
