Your generosity provided our World Geography students with craft paper, markers, and other supplies that allowed us to move geography off the page and turn it into something students could create, analyze, and display.\r\n\r\nThroughout the year, these materials were used to create maps, posters, geographic models, and other hands-on projects. Instead of simply reading about physical and human geography, students were able to demonstrate what they learned visually—mapping regions, illustrating geographic patterns, and making connections between people, places, and the environment.\r\n\r\nOne of the greatest benefits of your donation was simply having the supplies readily available. Students could focus on learning and creating without worrying about bringing materials from home or limiting a project because we did not have what we needed.\r\n\r\nThe supplies you provided did not go toward just one assignment. They became classroom resources that supported many students and many different activities throughout the year.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping us make geography more visual, creative, and hands-on. Your support gave our students the opportunity to do more than study their world—you helped give them the tools to map it.","fullyFundedDate":1534767052835,"projectUrl":"project/mapping-our-world/3515116/","projectTitle":"Mapping Our World","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Barbee","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5637987_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1534518346725","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5637987"},{"teacherId":7642142,"projectId":9671727,"letterContent":"Thank you for investing in our theatre students and helping us strengthen a growing program at Wharton High School. Because of your generosity, our Theatre Club now has professional tools that elevate both the quality of our productions and the educational experience of our students.\r\n\r\nThe Graftobian Special FX Trauma Pro SFX Makeup Kit has already transformed the way our students approach character design. Instead of simply \"pretending\" injuries or aging effects, students are now learning industry-level techniques used in film and stage. This has deepened their understanding of characterization and realism, and it has increased student confidence backstage. Our Christmas performance photos showcased some of these new skills, and students were incredibly proud of the professional look they achieved.\r\n\r\nThe spike tape and gaffer tape have been essential for improving our technical precision and safety. Students now properly mark blocking, spike furniture placements, and secure cables safely on stage. These tools are small but powerful — they teach discipline, spatial awareness, and industry standards. Our rehearsals run more smoothly, and our performers feel more confident navigating the stage.\r\n\r\nThe classroom texts — Technical Theater for Nontechnical People, The Playbook: Improv Games for Performers, and The Best of One Act Play Depot — are helping us build both skills and repertoire.\r\n• Students are learning the fundamentals of lighting, sound, set construction, and backstage management.\r\n• Improv games have strengthened collaboration, creativity, and risk-taking.\r\n• Our one-act play collection is expanding performance opportunities and helping us explore scripts that fit our cast strengths.\r\n\r\nAs a program that is still growing, these resources do more than support one production — they are laying the foundation for long-term success. Your donation has helped us move from \"making do\" to creating theatre with intention and professionalism.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, you have given our students ownership. They are not just acting; they are learning how theatre works from the ground up. They are building confidence, leadership skills, and a sense of pride in their craft.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our students and in the power of the arts. Your generosity has already made a meaningful difference in our classroom. The snack closet is available to students whenever they need it—no questions asked—and has become a quiet but powerful way to support their focus, comfort, and sense of care during the school day. Knowing that their basic needs are met allows students to stay engaged in lessons instead of worrying about hunger.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the snack closet, their reactions said everything. There was genuine excitement, relief, and gratitude. Some students shared how much it meant to know there was something available for them on long days or when they didn't have time to eat beforehand. It has created a supportive classroom culture where students feel seen, valued, and supported.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, students are better able to participate fully in learning and stay present during class activities. As we continue our lessons, this support helps set the foundation for growth, creativity, and confidence in the classroom. For the AP class, students are required to read an equal amount of pre-twentieth century literature and twentieth/ twenty-first literature. On the exam they must answer 100 multiple choice questions on literature from across literary history. Then they have two hours to write three literary analysis essays.\r\n\r\nThe first essay is a poetry analysis essay. The second is prose analysis. In each case, students are given a short selection to analyze for specific details. The third question, however, features a prompt on a universal device or theme and then asks the student to answer based on a novel or drama that they have studied in depth. In order to successfully answer this question, students need a wide reading experience. The novels and plays purchased by your donations help to provide access to quality reading materials that students can use to craft a thoughtful response to this open question.\r\n\r\nInvisible Man by Ralph Ellison and Othello by Shakespeare are among the most frequently cited works on the AP exam. The class sets of these works allow us to study these together in class. The other novels and plays are also often used on the AP exam and having them in the classroom allows students to read them for Individual Reading assignments. (They are doing these every 6 weeks in my class.)\r\n\r\nYour donation is important and influential in the lives of our AP Literature students. Because of your generosity, our Social Studies Department received three Epson EcoTank printers that have become valuable everyday tools in our classrooms.\r\n\r\nThese printers have given our teachers the ability to print classroom materials when and where they are needed. In my own classroom, having a printer with scanning and copying capabilities close at hand has been especially useful. I can make a quick copy of a student document, scan a piece of student work, or print a few materials without leaving the classroom and making a trip to the campus copier. That may sound like a small convenience, but during instructional and planning time, those saved minutes add up quickly.\r\n\r\nThe EcoTank printers also give our department an economical way to handle smaller printing jobs without relying on the large campus copier for everything.
