Because of your generosity, my students now have access to engaging, developmentally appropriate resources that help them better understand, express, and manage their emotions.\r\n\r\nWe have been using the materials during our daily social-emotional learning time, and one of the most meaningful moments happened during a \"Feelings Circle\" activity. Students used the new visuals and tools to identify how they were feeling and share with their classmates. One student, who is usually very quiet, was able to point to a feeling card and say, \"I feel frustrated today,\" which opened the door for support and connection from both peers and myself. Moments like this are helping to build emotional awareness and a stronger classroom community.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their reactions were full of excitement and curiosity. They were eager to explore, asking questions and immediately wanting to use everything. It was clear that the visuals and hands-on tools made feelings feel more understandable and safe to talk about.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are continuing to build on these skills by incorporating the resources into small group activities and role-playing scenarios. Students will practice problem-solving, using feeling words, and learning calming strategies they can apply both in and out of the classroom. Our goal is to help them grow into confident communicators who feel safe expressing their emotions.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in our students' emotional growth and well-being. Your support is truly making a lasting impact.","fullyFundedDate":1769233024188,"projectUrl":"project/helping-little-hearts-calm-big-feelings/9877112/","projectTitle":"Helping Little Hearts Calm Big Feelings","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Banks","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10101919_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1769027056954","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10101919"},{"teacherId":10101919,"projectId":9518381,"letterContent":"My students and I have truly enjoyed using our new social-emotional learning tools! The fidgets and books have become a meaningful part of our small group and therapy sessions. When my students first saw the materials, they were so excited—many of them immediately reached for the fidgets and shared how calming they felt in their hands. It opened up great conversations about self-regulation and emotions.\r\n\r\nThe SEL books have also been a wonderful way to guide discussions and help students connect with the characters and lessons. We've used them to talk about feelings, friendship, and coping strategies in a way that feels fun and safe.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue integrating these tools into our weekly sessions, helping students practice emotional awareness, mindfulness, and communication skills. Thanks to our donors, we've been able to create a more supportive, calming space where every student feels seen and valued.","fullyFundedDate":1754842664816,"projectUrl":"project/strong-minds-start-with-strong-emotions/9518381/","projectTitle":"Strong Minds Start with Strong Emotions","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Banks","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10101919_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1769027056954","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10101919"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_134319","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":null,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":null,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":15,"percentWhite":12,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":64,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":false,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 2","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Weighted Average","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":52.2,"schoolId":134319,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Yes Prep White Oak Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Yes Prep White Oak Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/texas-department-of-education/yes-prep-white-oak-elementary-school/134319"}
