Students regularly ask to take a recorder home to practice and are eager to share their growth with me, their parents, and their peers. As we prepare for our first concert with these new alto recorders, their overall musicianship has increased. Each student is taking time to be considerate of musical articulations and dynamics in an overall ensemble. Their music literacy has seen an impact as they gain greater independence and request more challenging musical literature. These are seen less as plastic noise making toys and regarded as instruments in the hands of a skilled artist! The difference is considerable!
