I received assistance from our our high school welding students for the assembly of the trikes as one piece of the frame on one trike was bent; they proved invaluable assistance as they both flattened the raised part on that trike and offered to build all three trikes for me! \r\n\r\nWhen I returned to the campus with the trikes, I asked for \"volunteers\" from the bilingual pre-k teacher for tricycle motors to help me move them from the front foyer to the playground. I have included some pictures of theses students, but the photos didn't accurate capture the glee on their faces when I told them they were allowed to ride them down the hallway to take them to their playground!\r\n\r\nIf you wonder what impact your giving has through Donors Choose, know that while other students were not able to ride them that day as I delivered them assembled at the end of the day, all of the pre-k students had to continually be redirected from the windows while on their dismissal bathroom break because they were so excited by the little line-up I had created on the other side of the windows! The opportunity to ride them the next day when they returned to school was quite a behavior incentive when wrapping up the day.\r\n\r\nAs I have transitioned to a district level position, I've not been able to see the fun these kiddos are having riding around their playground, but I have received texts and emails from the teachers telling me how much the students are enjoying having additional tricycles to ride and how these students social emotional capacity has increased with living the concepts of sharing, taking turns, and fairness. I was able to give the students who earned rewards their prizes as well as helping other students who just really needed a snack that day. \r\n\r\nI took the time to open different boxes with different classes (because i have 3) each class was so excited, they were screaming, laughing and making jokes. These resources have made learning more interactive and accessible, especially during handwriting practice, math drills, and literacy activities such as spelling and sentence building. The write-and-wipe tools allow students to practice repeatedly without the fear of making mistakes, which encourages participation and builds confidence.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, they were very excited and eager to use them. Many of them immediately picked up the whiteboards and markers and began writing their names, letters, and numbers. The reusable pockets were especially engaging because my students enjoyed sliding in worksheets and practicing over and over again. It was a joyful moment seeing their motivation and independence increase right away.\r\n\r\nOur next steps are to continue using these materials during small group instruction, independent work stations, and daily review activities. My students will practice essential skills like letter formation, number writing, and simple problem-solving using the whiteboards and pockets.
