This carpet has quickly become one of the most important spaces in our classroom, where students gather to learn, share, and build a sense of community together.\r\n\r\nWhen the carpet first arrived, the students were incredibly excited. It instantly became a special place in the room where everyone could come together. The students were eager to find their spots and begin our first lesson on the new carpet.\r\n\r\nWe use the carpet every day for our morning meetings, read-aloud time, group discussions, SEL guidance lessons, and mini-lessons. One memorable moment happened during a recent story time when the whole class gathered on the carpet to listen to a book and discuss the characters' feelings and actions. Sitting together in a comfortable and organized space helped students stay focused and participate more actively in the conversation. It also makes it easier for students to see the book, ask questions, and share their ideas with their classmates.\r\n\r\nThe carpet has also helped students learn important classroom routines such as taking turns, listening to others, and respecting personal space. Having designated spots helps everyone stay organized and makes our group learning time run smoothly.\r\n\r\nAs we continue using the carpet, our next steps include using this space for collaborative activities like partner discussions, phonics lessons, and interactive read-alouds. It will also be a place where we celebrate student work, share ideas, and build confidence as learners.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has helped create a welcoming space where students can learn together, connect with one another, and fully engage in classroom activities. Thank you for making this special gathering place possible for our students.","fullyFundedDate":1768146601216,"projectUrl":"project/a-place-for-everyone-a-classroom-carpet/9981759/","projectTitle":"A Place for Everyone: A Classroom Carpet for Learning Together","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sepulveda","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10040967"},{"teacherId":10040967,"projectId":9937632,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support in providing the book, \"Helping Students Understand Their Emotions—One Little Spot at a Time,\" for our students. This book has quickly become a favorite among my students and has helped us have important conversations about feelings and emotional awareness.\r\n\r\nFor our students, reading is more than just learning words on a page—it's a chance for students to connect, reflect, and grow. During our read-aloud time, we sit together and explore the story while talking about the different \"emotion spots\" the characters experience. The book introduces important social-emotional skills such as recognizing feelings, naming emotions, and learning healthy ways to manage them. These lessons help students understand that all feelings are normal and that there are positive ways to respond to them.\r\n\r\nOne of the most powerful moments happens when students begin connecting the story to their own experiences. After reading, we often pause and ask questions like, \"When have you felt like the angry spot?\" or \"What can we do when we feel worried?\" Students eagerly raise their hands to share, and it creates a supportive space where they feel comfortable talking about their emotions.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who sometimes struggle to express their feelings have especially enjoyed this book. The colorful \"emotion spots\" make it easier for them to describe how they feel. Instead of saying they are upset or frustrated, they will now say things like, \"I have a red angry spot today,\" which helps us talk through those feelings together.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue using the book as part of our social-emotional learning time. Students will practice identifying emotions in different situations and discuss strategies for calming down, showing kindness, and supporting one another. These conversations are helping build a more caring and understanding school community.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping provide a resource that supports not only academic learning but also the emotional growth of my students. Your generosity is making a real difference in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1768146601164,"projectUrl":"project/helping-students-understand-their-emotio/9937632/","projectTitle":"Helping Students Understand Their Emotions—One Little Spot at a Time","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sepulveda","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10040967"},{"teacherId":10040967,"projectId":9937607,"letterContent":"Thank you again for your generous donation that helped bring a chess set into our classroom. \r\n\r\nWhen the chess set first arrived, the students were immediately excited and curious. Many of them had seen chess before but had never had the opportunity to play or learn the rules. As soon as we opened the set, students gathered around the board asking questions about the different pieces and how they move. Their excitement turned into a great learning moment as we began exploring the game together.\r\n\r\n One memorable moment happened during our first practice games. Two students who are usually very quiet became completely engaged in planning their moves and thinking several steps ahead. They were discussing strategies, helping each other remember the rules, and celebrating good moves. It was wonderful to see them building confidence, patience, and critical thinking skills while having fun.\r\n\r\nChess has also become a way for students to practice problem-solving and sportsmanship. They are learning that every move matters and that it's okay to make mistakes as long as you learn from them. Students are beginning to challenge different classmates and are eager to improve each time they play.\r\n\r\nAs we continue using the chess set, our next step is to deepen students' understanding of strategies and piece movement. We are working toward students being able to play full games independently and eventually organizing friendly classroom tournaments. This will help them apply the thinking and planning skills they are developing while encouraging teamwork and positive competition.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has given my students an opportunity to learn a game that strengthens their minds while bringing them together. Thank you for investing in their growth and helping create these meaningful moments in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1768146600721,"projectUrl":"project/strategic-thinking-starts-here-chess-/9937607/","projectTitle":"Strategic Thinking Starts Here: Chess & Checkers for Classroom Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sepulveda","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10040967"},{"teacherId":10040967,"projectId":9943538,"letterContent":"Prior to the implementation of the desk dividers, my students demonstrated difficulty maintaining focus on their work. During examinations, instances of students glancing at their peers' screens and engaging in conversations were observed. Since the introduction of these dividers, however, we have seen a marked improvement in their ability to concentrate on their individual assignments without distraction. The Play-Doh has proven invaluable in assisting students with emotional regulation, particularly when facing frustration, anger, or anxiety. Through social-emotional learning activities, students practiced using the Play-Doh to mold representations of objects, locations, or elements that promote calmness. Furthermore, a book discussion provided students with the opportunity to learn coping mechanisms for trauma, emphasizing that they are not alone in their experiences. The Feelings Chart has been instrumental in enabling students to identify their emotions, which they were previously unable to articulate. Once identified, we collaboratively worked towards achieving a state of calm. The kinetic sand has also been beneficial, as it has supported the development of calming skills. While engaging with the kinetic sand, students were able to discuss their feelings in a calm and composed manner. The kinetic sand has been particularly well-received, with all students leaving the activity in a noticeably improved state of mind.","fullyFundedDate":1766950760133,"projectUrl":"project/help-my-students-stay-focused-with-perso/9943538/","projectTitle":"Help My Students Stay Focused With Personal Learning Spaces","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sepulveda","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10040967"},{"teacherId":9120514,"projectId":9756406,"letterContent":"Thanks to your donations, I was able to provide my students with books to help inspire their creativity and their academic success.
