As kindergarten students, many of my children are still adjusting to the routines of a full school day, including scheduled breakfast and lunch times. Having snacks available in our classroom has made such a meaningful difference in helping them feel comfortable, cared for, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nOur donated snacks have become an important part of our daily classroom routine! Around 9:30–10:30am each morning, we have snack time, and my students look forward to it every day. We have a variety of options, including Goldfish, cookies, applesauce, crackers, and fruit gummies. Students who bring a snack from home enjoy theirs, while those who don't get the opportunity to choose something from our classroom supply. This way, everyone gets to participate and enjoy snack time together!\r\n\r\nI have noticed how much this routine helps my students throughout the morning. When little ones are hungry, it can be difficult for them to sit still, focus, and participate in lessons. Having a snack helps them settle down, recharge, and feel ready to continue learning until our 11:45 lunch time. Sometimes, something as simple as a small snack can make a big difference in a kindergartener's day!\r\n\r\nOne of the most heartwarming parts of this project is that our classroom community has continued to grow beyond the original donations. Our parents have continued contributing snacks throughout the school year so that everyone can enjoy snack time every day. It has been wonderful to see families come together to support our little learners and help make sure no child feels left out.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students and helping create a classroom where their needs are cared for and where they can focus on being kids, learning, and growing. Your generosity has helped make our classroom feel a little more like home!\r\n\r\nThe chair pockets have become an essential part of our daily classroom routine. My students use them to store their iPads, whiteboards, pencil boxes, headphones, and other learning materials. We even keep their individual login information and lunch ID cards in their pockets so everything they need is easily accessible. My students take so much pride in their own organizers and do a wonderful job taking care of them. We have even developed a weekly routine where we empty out our pockets, clean them, and organize everything so we can start fresh!\r\n\r\nThe fluorescent light covers have also made such a lovely difference in our classroom. We typically keep only one set of overhead lights on and open our blinds to let in natural light. The covers soften the harsh fluorescent lighting and help create a cozy, inviting atmosphere where my students can feel comfortable throughout the school day. The students love how pretty the covers look, too!\r\n\r\nThese materials may seem like simple classroom additions, but they have become part of our everyday routines. Thanks to your generosity, our classroom rug has become so much more than a place to sit. It has become the heart of our classroom!\r\n\r\nWe use our rug every single day for morning meetings, math lessons, social studies, Spanish language arts and reading, and just about every whole-group lesson. It is where we come together to learn, share ideas, practice new skills, listen to stories, and build our classroom community. My students have even taken ownership of keeping it clean! They help tidy it daily and are so careful about keeping food and water away from their special gathering space.\r\n\r\nOne moment that really showed me how much this rug means to my students happened after a bad storm caused our classroom ceiling to leak. Unfortunately, our rug got wet and had to be taken away to be washed and dried. As soon as my students realized it was gone, they were so sad! They kept asking when we would get it back and whether it would be back soon. Their reaction reminded me just how important this rug had become to their daily routine and how much they enjoyed having a special place to learn together. Their joy and excitement were contagious when our rug was finally returned in the middle of a lesson!\r\n\r\nI am so grateful that you helped provide my students with a space they genuinely love and care for. Seeing themselves represented in books has helped students feel valued, confident, and excited about reading.\r\n\r\nThese new texts allow us to build essential reading skills such as vocabulary development, comprehension, making connections, and identifying themes. During read-alouds and independent reading time, students practice listening comprehension, discussing characters' feelings and motivations, and retelling stories using academic language. Even though I teach upper elementary students in third grade, they still love and benefit from weekly read-alouds, which model fluent reading and spark meaningful discussions.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is joyful and active.
