Having access to books in Spanish reminds my students that their language is something to be proud of and that their voices and experiences matter.\r\n\r\n One of the most meaningful parts has been seeing students get excited when they find a book they can connect with. Instead of feeling like they have to choose between reading in English or Spanish, they now have a growing library that allows them to enjoy stories in Spanish too. When my students first saw all the materials they were very excited and ready to start using them right away. \r\n\r\nAt the beginning of the year, my students were just scribbling and barely drawing. As I added more and more art materials to the art center, they looked forward daily to creating all kinds of artwork including drawings, sculptures and paintings. \r\n\r\nBy the end of the school year, all of my students were drawing and there was no more just scribbling.
