My students are all dyslexic, and they struggle when they are looking for books on grade level that aren't intimidating. Adding these graphic novels to our library have helped ease their anxiety and increase their higher level vocabulary.\r\n\r\nDyslexic students tend to shy away from your typical chapter book because a full page of print can be intimidating and immediately make them shut down. Having the option of a graphic novel, which breaks the text apart on the page, and offers grade level and higher level vocabulary, helps them feel success when reading.\r\n\r\nI am amazed at how quickly our project was funded and how quickly our new books came. I placed them on a back table in my room and they were spotted immediately when students came in the room and the cheers were heard in the classroom next door.
