For example, I can quickly print letter cards, math games, and picture supports that help students build vocabulary, recognize sounds, and develop early math skills. \r\nSeveral students have especially benefited from these resources, particularly those who need additional visual support or hands-on practice. For example, some of my emerging bilingual students rely on printed visuals and labeled pictures to better understand concepts and participate in classroom activities. Other students who are still developing fine motor or early literacy skills gain confidence when they can interact with printed tracing sheets, matching activities, and personalized learning materials.\r\nOverall, this project has allowed me to better meet the diverse needs of my students by providing consistent, high-quality resources. Students explored the parts of a birdhouse and discussed why strong structures are important for safety and survival. The materials allowed them to better understand how design and structure work together in nature.\r\n\r\nMy students were super excited when they saw the new materials! They were so happy to know they would have everything they needed to fully participate and learn. Their excitement made the lesson even more special, and they were eager to get started right away.\r\n\r\nThe next step in our project is for students to design and build their own model birdhouses using the materials provided. They will apply what they learned about structure, protection, and weather resistance. After building, students will present their designs and explain how their birdhouse would keep birds safe. This hands-on experience will help strengthen their understanding of engineering, creativity, and problem-solving.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making this meaningful learning experience possible for our classroom!","fullyFundedDate":1763564676179,"projectUrl":"project/stem-builders-from-birdhouses-to-brains/9881037/","projectTitle":"STEM Builders: From Birdhouses to Brainstorms!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Murillo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6147063_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y46&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1727897310126","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6147063"},{"teacherId":6141049,"projectId":9698951,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for funding our DonorsChoose project and giving my students the gift of meaningful, hands-on learning! Because of your generosity, we were able to receive the Lakeshore Early Math Instant Learning Centers Complete Set and the counting and measurement activity tins, and it has already transformed how we explore math in our classroom.\r\n\r\nWe have been using these math centers during our daily math workshop time, especially in small groups. The students love working with the colorful manipulatives and activity charts that allow up to four children to play and learn together. They practice essential early math skills like patterning, counting, comparing numbers, and basic addition and subtraction through games and activities that feel like play but build real understanding.\r\n\r\nThe excitement on their faces when the boxes arrived was unforgettable! Many students immediately gathered around the materials and couldn't wait to try everything out. One of my English language learners proudly exclaimed, \"I did math all by myself!\" after completing an activity independently. That moment reminded me how important engaging, student-centered resources are for building confidence and joy in learning.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we will continue to use these centers to reinforce our current math lessons and help students deepen their number sense. These materials are especially helpful for differentiated practice and give all students a chance to succeed, whether they're ready for new challenges or need extra support mastering foundational skills.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your support and for taking an interest in our classroom journey. Your support has brought so much excitement, joy, and curiosity into our classroom, and we are truly grateful.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Our students have been eagerly exploring all the new STEM materials in our Maker-space. The moment they saw the boxes arrive, they kept asking, \"Is this for us?\" Their faces lit up with amazement, gratitude, and pride. These supplies have given them the chance to create, build, imagine, and problem-solve in ways that were not previously possible.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n We've already put the resources to great use! During fall break, students worked together to design and build a replica of Texas' own Big Tex from the State Fair. For Halloween, they engineered \"Bone Bridges,\" applying STEM principles in a creative and spooky way. This month, we are diving into Thanksgiving-themed challenges, including our \"Turkey Troubles\" project where students are using the materials to create their very own Turkey Transporters. These hands-on activities have allowed them to collaborate, think critically, and bring their ideas to life.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Your generosity has made a meaningful impact on our classroom and has shown our students that there are people in the world who believe in them and want to support their learning.
