Unpacking the Bob books, wooden letter puzzles, and Lakeshore phonics games felt like Christmas morning.\r\n\r\nThese supplies completely transformed our classroom. Last week, a struggling reader used the wooden letter puzzle and magnetic sentence strips to sound out and write his very first word all on his own! His face totally lit up! When our supplies arrived my students and I were so excited to begin using them! My students were especially excited with the reading materials. They felt so grown up using TIME magazines to learn about Science related topics. The effect has been tremendous with students using new academic vocabulary and curiosity about new topics! Another highly desired activity was listening to books materials! Most of my students are emergent readers and having access to high quality books with cds has been transformational. \r\nMy students have never been more excited as they use the newly received mechanical pencils for our writing center! Writing is now more exciting and efficient as we are no longer needing to sharpen pencils throughout the day. All thanks to you! Finally, math time has been turned up by the use of erasable number lines and tools. My students now have their own number line that they can put their hands on and write on to help solidify the thinking as opposed to just looking at our classroom number line.
