This project will teach meaningful life skills while serving others. When the materials arrived, we were beyond excited! We practiced greeting customers, organized supplies, and created thoughtful kindness notes for staff members across campus. For many of my students, hands-on learning is where they thrive most, and this project will create meaningful opportunities for communication, teamwork, social interactions, problem-solving, and independence in a way that feels purposeful and motivating to them.\r\n\r\nThrough The Leopard Brew, students are learning how to take simple orders, prepare drinks and treats, deliver items safely, while interact positively with teachers, therapists, office staff, paraprofessionals, and custodians who support them every day. One of the most meaningful parts of this project has been watching students realize they can make someone else's day brighter. Their confidence and pride have grown so much through these acts of kindness. As we continue this mission, students will keep practicing vocational, communication, and social-emotional skills while spreading kindness throughout our school community. Your support has helped create opportunities for my students to feel included, capable, and connected to the people around them. Thank you for believing in my students and helping us turn kindness into action every single day.","fullyFundedDate":1777395321657,"projectUrl":"project/the-leopard-brew-kindness-in-action/10203862/","projectTitle":"The Leopard Brew: Kindness in Action","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Nickerson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9734268_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746061758569","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrsnickersonteaches"},{"teacherId":9734268,"projectId":9881514,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, my students are ready to explore the butterfly life cycle in a hands-on and meaningful way. When our materials first arrived, my students were immediately excited and curious. These magnifiers will help students observe and notice details they might have otherwise missed. They were eager to start using the magnifiers and have been practicing safe observations using the magnifiers and butterfly life cycle models. Soon they will be ready to document the changes we observe as the butterflies emerge. The magnetic butterfly life cycle and model set have also been a wonderful teaching tool, helping my students to visualize and sequence each stage as we learn together. When our butterflies are ready, we plan to release them outside and discuss how butterflies help pollinate plants and support our environment. Students who are typically hesitant to participate are now eager to join in, exploring colorful scarves and creating rhythms together. One of our favorite activities is using boomwhackers during structured movement time, where students follow patterns, take turns, and work as a team to create music. These moments are not only fun, but they also build critical skills like listening, following directions, and cooperation.\r\n\r\nThese sensory tools have quickly become an essential part of our daily routine. We use them during transitions and brain breaks to regulate emotions, refocus, and re-engage in learning. I've seen noticeable growth in my students' ability to stay on task, manage frustration, and express themselves in positive ways. For many of my students, especially those with sensory needs, having a safe and structured way to move has made a significant difference in their confidence and overall success.\r\n\r\nMy goal is to continue building a classroom where every student feels confident, capable, and excited to learn. Your support has gone beyond providing materials, it has created meaningful opportunities for my students to grow socially, emotionally, and academically.
