Many of them were happy to have a teacher who was prepared with the supplies they needed to participate in fun and creative activities. Students immediately began asking about the types of projects and activities we would be doing throughout the year.\r\n\r\nThe new resources have also allowed me to put students into groups for collaboration, participation, and peer support. Students enjoy being able to work together, color, draw, and share their ideas with one another. Having these materials has helped create a classroom where students feel comfortable being creative and participating in their learning.\r\n\r\nThe next step for my classroom is to begin creating themes for each unit. I want my students to help make our classroom feel like their own by using the resources we received to decorate and display their work.\r\n\r\nAs we move through each unit, students will have opportunities to create projects connected to what they are learning and use their own ideas to decorate our classroom. I am excited to see the creative ideas they come up with and to have students take ownership of our learning environment. My goal is for our classroom to become a place where students can learn, create, collaborate, and proudly share their work with others.","fullyFundedDate":1783342999080,"projectUrl":"project/lighting-up-learning-in-world-geography/10305100/","projectTitle":"Lighting Up Learning in World Geography!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Thrash","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8339929_orig.png?crop=720,720,x0,y276&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1777670325233","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8339929"},{"teacherId":8339929,"projectId":10250810,"letterContent":"My students are already having a blast using the new resources! We are only in our second week, but the materials have helped me create a fun, welcoming, and cozy classroom environment. One of my students' favorite things so far has been choosing the color of our classroom lights each day. It may seem like a small thing, but it has made our classroom feel more exciting and comfortable for students.\r\n\r\nMy students are also enjoying using the art supplies to color and work with maps. These resources have allowed them to be more creative and hands-on while learning geography. Instead of simply taking notes, students are able to interact with maps and create projects that make geography more meaningful and fun.\r\n\r\nOur next big project will be for students to create their own island! Students have just learned about physical processes, physical landforms, and physical features on Earth. Next week, they will begin learning about human characteristics and how people interact with and change the world around them.\r\n\r\nWe will bring these concepts together through a creative island project. Each student will design and create a detailed island poster that includes both physical and human characteristics. Students will use rulers, cardstock, markers, colored pencils, and other donated supplies to design their islands and show what they have learned.\r\n\r\nI am excited to see how creative my students become with this project. The donated resources are giving them the opportunity to learn geography through creativity, hands-on activities, and projects they can truly make their own.","fullyFundedDate":1778542425056,"projectUrl":"project/opening-doors-through-geography/10250810/","projectTitle":"Opening Doors Through Geography","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Thrash","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8339929_orig.png?crop=720,720,x0,y276&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1777670325233","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8339929"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_16539","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":3240,"numTeachers":203,"percentFrplEligible":57,"percentAsian":7,"percentBlack":19,"percentWhite":26,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":42,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":3,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"16.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":71.2,"schoolId":16539,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Klein Collins High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Klein Collins High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/klein-independent-school-district/klein-collins-high-school/16539"}
