STEM in the Jungle: Exploring Science Through Stories has given my students the opportunity to see that reading is much more than decoding words on a page - it is a doorway to asking questions, making observations, solving problems, and thinking like scientists. As we read together, students eagerly predict outcomes, identify patterns, make real-world connections, and engage in meaningful discussions about the world around them. These books have helped transform our library into a space filled with curiosity, creativity, and discovery.\r\n\r\nOne of the most rewarding parts of this project has been watching students who may not have naturally gravitated toward science or reading become excited about both. Our youngest learners are captivated by colorful illustrations and hands-on conversations, while older students eagerly connect scientific concepts to their own lives and ask thoughtful questions that extend beyond the pages. Whether we're exploring animal adaptations, weather, engineering, or the wonders of nature, these books inspire students to think critically, collaborate with one another, and see themselves as capable learners and problem-solvers.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our students and investing in their futures. Your kindness has provided more than just books - it has created opportunities for wonder, exploration, and a lifelong love of learning. Every time a student checks out one of these books, excitedly shares a new fact, or discovers a passion for STEM, your generosity continues to make a lasting impact. From all of us here in our little jungle, thank you for helping our students grow into curious readers and confident thinkers.","fullyFundedDate":1764139273437,"projectUrl":"project/stem-in-the-jungle-exploring-science-th/9659266/","projectTitle":"STEM in the Jungle: Exploring Science Through Stories","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nebeker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9529574_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1750195598098","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/wild-library"},{"teacherId":9984339,"projectId":10064373,"letterContent":"On behalf of my school—KIPP Austin Comunidad—my colleague, Coach Chambers, and all of our students, we express our deepest gratitude for your donation to this project. Because of you, we've built the outdoor beds and assembled a rain barrel, creating a hands-on outdoor classroom where science comes alive and where students can find a quiet space for reflection.\r\nYour gift has given our school a lasting, living resource that will teach stewardship, teamwork, and curiosity for years to come. A lot of our families use technology at home, but they don't always get to see how powerful it can be when kids use it to problem-solve, build, and create. With these tools, students are learning the basics of coding without even realizing it. They're building logic, working together, and getting to see their ideas come to life right in front of them.\r\n\r\nThe thing my students love most is how fun everything feels. They get so excited watching their Botley robot follow a path they coded or seeing Dash react to their commands. The Osmo kits are another huge hit! Students loved mixing the hands-on puzzle pieces with the digital coding challenges. It makes them feel like real engineers. Every time they make something move, turn, or light up because of a choice they made, you can just see the confidence grow.\r\n\r\nSome students have taken to the new technology in really special ways. One of my quieter second graders - who usually doesn't raise his hand - has become the \"go-to\" helper whenever someone's Osmo coding gets stuck. One of my kinders, who normally has a tough time staying engaged, proudly figured out how to make his Coding Critter go through a tiny obstacle course! Now, he asks to show every new visitor how it works. It's been so sweet to watch these tools open doors for kids who needed a different way to shine.","fullyFundedDate":1755881992438,"projectUrl":"project/coding-in-the-jungle-building-tech-skil/9628267/","projectTitle":"Coding in the Jungle: Building Tech Skills Early","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nebeker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9529574_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1750195598098","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/wild-library"},{"teacherId":9593856,"projectId":9434133,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating to my room, although I wasn't able to receive most of the things I put on my list, I replaced them with more books for my library!\r\nMy students are loving the new books I have added to my library and are always excited to check them out!\r\nThe speaker that was on my wish list is used to make 4th grade more joyful! Your generosity allowed us to purchase high-quality literacy resources that help my kindergarteners build strong reading foundations in both English and Spanish. These materials are already being used every day during our small-group rotations, where students get explicit phonics practice that matches exactly what they need. They light up when they recognize words they can now read on their own, and the added visuals and interactive pieces help them feel confident taking academic risks.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting changes I have seen is how quickly my emerging readers engage with these new tools. Students who were once hesitant to participate are now eagerly selecting activities that let them connect letters and sounds, build syllables, and explore vocabulary in both languages. For many of my students, school is the primary place where they develop literacy skills, so having culturally and linguistically responsive materials truly matters.\r\n\r\nYour gift is opening doors for children who are learning to navigate two languages and two worlds.
