Your contribution has made a meaningful impact on our students' learning experience and has provided them with an engaging introduction to foundational coding concepts.\r\n\r\nThe Indi Bots have quickly become one of our most loved learning tools. Even at five and six years old, my students are discovering the excitement of coding and problem-solving through play as they guide their Indi Bots through the colorful mazes they've created. They are learning to plan, test, and revise their ideas - skills that are building their confidence and critical thinking in ways that reach far beyond technology.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has given my students the opportunity to explore STEM concepts in an age-appropriate, hands-on way that brings learning to life. Your contribution of Play-Doh, Legos, small pencils, markers, dry-erase markers, glue sticks, and other essential supplies made a tremendous difference for our students. These materials arrived just when our class needed them most, and the impact was immediate and visible every single day.\r\n\r\nIn kindergarten, learning happens through play, exploration, and hands-on activities. Your donation allowed us to provide exactly that — meaningful, developmentally appropriate learning experiences that help students build foundational academic and social skills. Instead of simply completing worksheets or watching lessons, students had daily opportunities to touch, build, create, and practice skills in engaging ways.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting additions was the Play-Doh. While it may seem simple, it quickly became one of the most effective tools in our classroom. Students used it to form letters, numbers, and sight words, strengthening both early literacy skills and fine-motor development. We practiced shape-making, counting, and story-building, turning learning into a creative adventure. Students who were hesitant writers suddenly felt confident shaping letters and demonstrating what they knew with their hands. The Play-Doh also supported the social-emotional growth that is so important at this age — children shared tools, took turns, and proudly showed classmates their creations.\r\n\r\nThe Legos brought just as much excitement and learning. Our students used them during morning centers, math time, and STEM activities. They built patterns, measured towers, and designed imaginative structures, all while learning to problem solve and collaborate with classmates. Legos encouraged teamwork, language development, and perseverance — skills that are just as important as academic learning in kindergarten. Students who sometimes struggle to sit still or stay focused found success and joy in building and experimenting.\r\n\r\nThe small pencils, markers, dry-erase markers, and glue sticks supported independent practice and creativity every day. The small pencils were especially helpful for early writers just learning proper grip and control. Dry-erase markers and whiteboards allowed students to practice writing and math skills in an interactive way, erasing and trying again without frustration. Glue sticks, markers, and craft materials helped us create journals, books, and learning projects that students proudly shared with their families. For many of our students, having access to personal supplies helped foster responsibility and pride in their work.\r\n\r\nYour donation also helped ensure equity within our classroom. Not every family is able to provide school supplies, and your support meant that all students — regardless of background — had access to the tools they needed to participate fully, take ownership of their learning, and feel confident in the classroom. The relief and excitement on students' faces when they saw the materials was priceless. \r\n\r\nThank you for believing in early learners and for understanding how important these foundational years are. Your generosity supported creativity, academic growth, social-emotional development, and lots of joyful exploration. Our classroom is brighter, kinder, more confident, and more engaged because of you.\r\n\r\nWith sincere appreciation,\r\nMrs. Little's Kindergarten Class","fullyFundedDate":1754475913825,"projectUrl":"project/new-school-year-new-supplies/9481108/","projectTitle":"New School Year, New Supplies!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Little","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9179999_orig.jpg?crop=218,218,x0,y12&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752964285503","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9179999"},{"teacherId":2531145,"projectId":9042797,"letterContent":"First, I want to \"Thank You\" for the Listening Station, you were so kind to donate to my students. As a teacher I feel these resources can/will help my students with their reading education.\r\n\r\nFor the last eleven years I have benefited from the Donorschoose program that has allowed people, like you, to help teachers, like me, receive the resources they need to help children reach their full educational potential.\r\n\r\nWhen the day came and I received the Listening Station. I put it in the spot that I had already picked out and set up for it two week earlier. When the kids came in the next morning, they were super excited and couldn't wait to get on it. They all wanted to be the first one on it.\r\n\r\nIn my class I use the teaching method called Daily 5. I just love it!\r\n\r\nThe Daily 5 is a series of literacy tasks which students complete daily while I meet with small groups or with individuals. The Daily 5 is more than a management system or a curriculum framework it is a structure that will help students develop the daily habits of reading, writing and working with peers that will lead to a lifetime of independent literacy. One of the centers that I use in the Daily 5 is the Listening Station. When my students listen to books being read to them, they are improving their listening skills. Listening skills are an important part of literacy. As children grow, they learn through listening. Vocabulary, comprehension, and oral language skills develop as children listen to those around them, and these skills are the basis of reading and other literacy skills.\r\n\r\nDuring Daily 5, my students will rotate to the Listening Station, where they will listen to a book being read to them. I will use one book a week. So each student will get to hear the book 2 to 3 times a week. This repetition helps the students with their fluency.\r\n\r\nI feel that the Listening Station you donated to my class has helped me provide my students with more than one resource when it comes to learning how to become a WONDERFUL reader. I also feel my students' vocabulary has grown due to the Listening Station, as well as their fluency and comprehension skills.\r\n\r\nI am truly grateful for your donation to my students. This teaching tool will be used, in my classroom for many years to come, to help future generations become better readers and to also help them gain a love for reading.\r\n\r\nWith gratitude,\r\nMrs. Stephens","fullyFundedDate":1736981934967,"projectUrl":"project/cd-players-not-a-thing-of-the-past/9042797/","projectTitle":"CD Players: Not a Thing of the Past","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Harlan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2531145_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1722032586046","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/astephens7"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_12854","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":664,"numTeachers":45,"percentFrplEligible":24,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":60,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":25,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":81.2,"schoolId":12854,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Greentree Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Greentree Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/humble-independent-school-district/greentree-elementary-school/12854"}
