The new lab coats and goggles have already transformed our science classroom into a place where students feel like real scientists. We put the materials to use right away during our first experiment, where students tested the relative density of soil, rubber, oil, and other materials. Watching them work like true investigators—carefully observing which items floated or sank—was such a powerful moment of curiosity and discovery.\r\n\r\nThe moment the students first saw the lab coats and goggles, the room erupted in excitement. Several students hurried to try them on, proudly checking themselves out and saying things like, \"Now I look like a real scientist!\" Their confidence and engagement soared before the lesson even began.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, you've gotten a small window into the hands-on work happening in our classroom. Next, students will be creating \"the water cycle in a bag,\" a hands-on model that lets them observe evaporation, condensation, and precipitation right before their eyes. They're already buzzing with anticipation, and the lab gear will help them feel ready for their next scientific adventure.\r\n\r\nThank you again for making this possible. You've truly inspired my students.","fullyFundedDate":1754181775555,"projectUrl":"project/support-safe-science-fund-lab-coats-and/9517809/","projectTitle":"Support Safe Science: Fund Lab Coats and Goggles","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Warchol","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10052473_orig.jpg?crop=1877,1877,x0,y312&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1749435192962","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10052473"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_11683","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":730,"numTeachers":39,"percentFrplEligible":15,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":58,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":27,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"18.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":81.5,"schoolId":11683,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Travis Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Travis Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/houston-independent-school-district/travis-elementary-school/11683"}
