My students were beyond thrilled with everything that arrived. You truly can't imagine how much it means to all of us to have the opportunity to use these materials for hands-on learning experiences.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite items we received was the planetarium projector. I gathered my students on the carpet, turned off the lights, and we explored the planets together. As they watched, students took notes and colored the planets based on what they observed.\r\n\r\nUsing the resources you sent, students were also able to create their own sedimentary rock models with sand, food coloring, stir sticks, and pebbles. We used the trays to organize our materials, and students mixed food coloring with the sand to form colorful layers.\r\n\r\nAnother activity my students really enjoyed was creating terrariums. I purchased worms, and students used the soil, magnifying glasses, and tweezers you provided. This allowed them to closely observe their terrariums and analyze the relationship between biotic and abiotic factors within the ecosystem.\r\n\r\nThank you again for supporting our classroom and helping make these engaging science experiences possible for my students. As we approach the end of the school year and prepare for the STAAR test, I plan to use the materials you provided to create review stations that will help students reinforce key concepts in an interactive way.","fullyFundedDate":1767045019208,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-learning/9708941/","projectTitle":"Hands On Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Olivares","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10063128_orig.jpg?crop=1242,1242,x0,y571&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757630354816","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10063128"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_17142","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":593,"numTeachers":45,"percentFrplEligible":91,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":23,"percentWhite":7,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":66,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":63.3,"schoolId":17142,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about George W Carver Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"George W Carver Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/goose-creek-consolidated-independent-school-district/george-w-carver-elementary-school/17142"}
