I explained that generous donors had blessed us with these items to help them when they have difficulty regulating their emotions. The donations make them feel special and encouraged that people they do not know care enough about them to help them develop and grow in their learning environment. \r\n\r\nOur next steps for our students in our current classroom lesson is for the students to continue in their special education curriculum--in which they are focusing on reading and writing. Their goal is to write paragraphs and send out brief thank-you/encouragement letters to military servicemembers and veterans. \r\n\r\nAs mentioned earlier, our campus is a Title 1 school where in many families, there are not resources for \"extra\" comforts such as a calming corner.
