We read the novel, studied classic poetry, and even wrote some poems of our own. We dove into our own creativity in making our journals, too. It was amazing to see students who claimed all year long that they didn't like to read bag to read the novel and write their own poetry! It was such a wonderful project, and I can't wait to do it again this year! Fitness plays a crucial role in helping my students, who often face emotional challenges, regain a sense of control during their outbursts. They particularly enjoy using the stationary bikes, as it allows them to track their steps while staying in one place instead of wandering the school. Each student has discovered something they love in the room, including the slam balls, which they never imagined they could throw around, given their weight of 30 pounds. Transforming my students' mindset is the most rewarding aspect of introducing these changes to my classroom environment.
