We've started the lab this year for 3rd-5th grade students to help bring math to life using concrete models and representations. The results were beyond what we imagined. The fear of math for most students have been stripped away producing more confident mathematicians.\r\n\r\nThe students have learned place value as well as writing numbers in word form, expanded form and standard form. They were very excited to have this tool. Thanks to you, they have strengthen their rounding skills by utilizing the number lines to support learning. Students have studied converting fractions to decimals and vice-versa. Using the hundreds grids have given them an opportunity to shade in the designated number and write the correlating fraction and decimal that represent the visual model. Students used the counting chips as markers and as a support for team games while practicing math problems in a fun way. Our teachers were also able to use the resources in the math lab while they pull students in small groups to provide intervention and enrichment support. The materials are well utilized and have supported transforming our math lab into a place that is well beyond just doing math but now they can see and experience math firsthand while bringing it to life. We are eternally grateful for your support.","fullyFundedDate":1757908349649,"projectUrl":"project/learning-math-the-concrete-way/9670704/","projectTitle":"Learning Math the Concrete Way","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Williams","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10235634_orig.jpg?crop=500,500,x0,y16&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756712317352","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10235634"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_8195","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":526,"numTeachers":39,"percentFrplEligible":43,"percentAsian":31,"percentBlack":25,"percentWhite":18,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":16,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":90.9,"schoolId":8195,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lexington Creek Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lexington Creek Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/fort-bend-independent-school-district/lexington-creek-elementary-school/8195"}
