Your generosity gave our students the opportunity to connect reading, creativity, and self-expression in an exciting and memorable way.\r\n\r\nWe used the new resources to host a school-wide book cover design contest in the library. Students selected books they enjoyed reading and created original covers that represented the story's themes, characters, and emotions. One special moment came when a student who is new to our school and is very quiet, shared her design with some classmates and explained why the story inspired her artwork. Watching students gain confidence while talking about books they loved was incredibly rewarding.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first learned about the contest, they were thrilled. The library quickly became filled with excitement as students brainstormed ideas, sketched designs, and encouraged one another. They were especially excited to see their ideas come to life on their pages.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, the contest sparked even more interest in reading and library activities. Our next steps are to continue incorporating creative literacy projects into the library, include student book trailers, reading challenges, and future art-and-reading events that encourage students to think critically about the books they read. We also plan to create a permanent display area for student-created book art to keep celebrating literacy and creativity throughout the school year.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this experience possible for our students. Your support helped create a joyful learning environment where students felt inspired, creative, and proud of their work.","fullyFundedDate":1770932486829,"projectUrl":"project/oh-the-covers-well-create/10079070/","projectTitle":"Oh, the Covers We'll Create!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ramos","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10427066"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_14305","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":574,"numTeachers":40,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":99,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":0,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":75.0,"schoolId":14305,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Monte Cristo Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Monte Cristo Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/edinburg-consolidated-independent-school-district/monte-cristo-elementary-school/14305"}
