I cannot thank you enough for stepping in to help remove barriers that so often impact a child's confidence, attendance, and ability to focus on learning.\r\n\r\nWe are using these new resources to quietly and respectfully support students who come to school without adequate clothing, weather-appropriate items, or basic essentials. Recently, a student arrived on a particularly cold morning without a warm jacket. Instead of spending the day distracted and uncomfortable, he was able to choose a coat from the closet that fit him perfectly. The relief on his face was immediate. He returned to class smiling, confident, and ready to learn. Moments like that remind us how meeting basic needs directly impacts emotional well-being and academic engagement.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the clothing closet, their reactions were heartfelt. Many were surprised that the space was set up like a small boutique—organized, welcoming, and dignified. For some students, simply being able to choose their own items restored a sense of control and pride. They didn't feel singled out; they felt cared for.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are continuing to build lessons around empathy, kindness, and community support. In counseling lessons and classroom discussions, we are talking about how communities work together to care for one another. Students are learning that asking for help is okay and that giving help is powerful. Our next steps include expanding the closet to include seasonal items and involving students in service-learning opportunities where they can help organize donations and learn about leadership and compassion in action.\r\n\r\nYour support has done more than provide clothing—it has created comfort, dignity, and belonging for our students. Thank you for investing in their well-being and in the heart of our school community.","fullyFundedDate":1757517219322,"projectUrl":"project/comfort-and-confidence-clothing-for-ki/9675018/","projectTitle":"Comfort and Confidence: Clothing for Kids in Need","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Sheehan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1573399_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y146&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756844393631","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/melaniesheehan"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_14358","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":340,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":17,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":74,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":80.5,"schoolId":14358,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Burnet Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Burnet Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/ector-county-independent-school-district/burnet-elementary-school/14358"}
