We now have a dedicated space where students can grab a cushion and a book to spend a few minutes diving into a story to learn about new experiences, fall into a new season, or simply laugh with a new character. There is no greater joy in my eyes, we are so thankful. \r\n\r\nI have introduced novel studies to my talented and gifted students, offering them the ability to dive into a book and get to know every page from cover to cover, really understanding each piece that the author intended for them. These skills are important because students often learn to read, and want to read as fast as possible, forgetting to love the words on the pages while they are in them. These students in particular are enjoying the books we have the most. \r\n\r\nThank you will never be enough for the gift you have given my students. Without proper sound treatment, our rehearsals were full of intense echo and heavy low-end buildup that made it tough for students to hear each other and really refine how they sound together.\r\n\r\nI'm currently in the middle of getting everything hung up, but we're already noticing a huge difference in the room. When the box of recorders arrived, my students were absolutely ecstatic! They had so much fun that very first day just getting their hands on them and learning all about recorder history. For a lot of my students, this was their first time holding a real instrument (besides classroom percussion), and the excitement in the room was unreal.\r\n\r\nHaving a complete set meant we could jump straight into playing. We started out learning B and A, but once they mastered our third note, G, a whole new world opened up. Suddenly we had so many songs to play (including Hot Cross Buns of course!).\r\n\r\nNow that the new school year is starting, they get to use these recorders even more! We're kicking off \"Recorder Karate,\" a competitive and super fun belt system where students earn different colored belts as they master and pass off their songs.\r\n\r\nNone of this would have been possible without your generosity. Completing a class set on my own just wasn't doable with my school's budget, so having your support means so much to me and my students. You didn't just donate instruments, you gave every upper elementary student their very own way to make music, build confidence, and feel like a real musician.
