They were eager to help me organize all of them in the classroom and to start using them on our first art club project of the year: a personal symbolism still life. Students chose 3-5 objects that had personal meaning to them, arranged them as a still life, and then sketched them using either graphite or ink, using new shading skills they learned in the club. It was amazing to see the students explore new techniques, using a variety of the materials y'all provided us: artist pencils, shading tools, erasers, and construction paper. Once completed, students had their artwork displayed in our main hallway - they received so much praise and were so proud! \r\n\r\nFor our next project, students get to choose to either draw a one-point perspective dream room or a two-point perspective surreal or dream city. Students will be using either graphite and watercolor or colored pens or pencils as the media for this project. I have already been seeing the students having fun creating and imagining their spaces for this project and using the new skill of perspective. \r\n\r\nThere are many more fun projects planned, such as a mood/emotion painting focused on color theory and self-portrait or hero portrait.
