Students were able to see academic concepts come to life through engaging stories, making learning feel more accessible, memorable, and enjoyable.\r\nThe Math-focused books were especially helpful for connecting literacy to concepts such as fractions, division, shapes, decimals, and problem solving. Instead of encountering these ideas only through equations and worksheets, students could see how Math is used in stories and real-world situations. Books such as Divide and Ride, Fractions in Disguise, and Round Is a Tortilla gave me another way to introduce, reinforce, and discuss mathematical thinking with students.\r\nThe other books helped broaden our classroom library with stories that encouraged curiosity, community, friendship, environmental awareness, and reading for enjoyment. Having a variety of high-interest books also gave me additional opportunities to use read-alouds to build vocabulary, comprehension, discussion skills, and connections across content areas.\r\nThank you to everyone who supported this project. These books have given my students more opportunities to learn through literature while helping me create engaging connections between reading and the concepts we explore throughout the school day. The treasure chest and reward items have already brought so much excitement and joy to our learning environment. My students use the treasure chest as a positive reinforcement system to celebrate their hard work, effort, progress, and accomplishments during dyslexia intervention. Whether they master a difficult skill, show improvement in reading and spelling, or simply persevere through a challenging lesson, they have an opportunity to choose a small treasure as a reminder that their hard work matters.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the treasure chest, their faces lit up with excitement! They were eager to see what was inside and immediately began talking about which treasure they hoped to earn. More importantly, the treasure chest has helped create a positive connection between challenging literacy work and celebrating success. Dyslexia intervention can sometimes feel difficult for students, so having something tangible to look forward to has helped make our lessons feel more encouraging and rewarding. My students are learning that progress does not have to happen all at once—every small step forward is worth celebrating.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our dyslexia lessons, my students will keep working on building their word identification, spelling, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension skills. The treasure chest will continue to be a special part of our classroom as we celebrate their individual growth and accomplishments.
