I explained that there are amazing people out there who support their learning by helping to provide things we need, and they were amazed and thankful.\r\n\r\nI assembled the clear file boxes and added files with student numbers to them where students keep their completed writing pieces as their portfolio folders. Students write all year long through each of our units and at the end of the year they have a full portfolio of all they accomplished. The tools from this project made these organized portfolios possible. \r\n\r\nIn a classroom, needs are always arising. Teachers spend their own money if a need comes up unless a project is funded. Our campus has only two black-and-white copiers for nearly 100 staff members, and it's not uncommon for one to be out of service—leaving everyone waiting in line for the other. We also share a single color printer, which often runs low on ink or takes quite a while to print.\r\n\r\nHaving my own printer in the classroom has allowed me to create colorful anchor charts for students to reference, print and display their writing in the hallway, and prepare engaging learning materials with ease.
