Students have been excited to select books from the new set during independent reading. The combination of illustrations and text gives readers helpful context clues, making complex stories more approachable. These engaging books are helping students remain focused for longer periods and develop a more positive relationship with reading.\r\n\r\nStudents are also using the books during partner work and literature-circle discussions. They study the order of the panels to sequence events, examine characters' expressions and dialogue to make inferences, and explain how visual details contribute to the story. These conversations encourage students to compare interpretations, support their ideas with evidence, and learn from one another.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue using the collection for character analysis, vocabulary development, comprehension practice, and student storytelling activities. Your generosity has provided high-interest books that help readers build confidence, stamina, and critical-thinking skills. These hands-on tools are helping make decimals and place value visible and concrete. Instead of relying only on numbers printed on a worksheet, students can arrange flats, rods, and units in the ones, tenths, and hundredths sections. They can build decimal numbers, label their models, and explain what each digit represents.\r\n\r\nThe frames also support meaningful small-group conversations. Students can model a number such as 1.35 or place 0.46 and 0.64 side by side to compare their values. Being able to touch and move the pieces gives students a low-pressure way to test ideas, recognize mistakes, and revise their reasoning. As students share their models, I can see their mathematical thinking and respond to misconceptions more effectively.\r\n\r\nWe will continue using these frames to connect fractions with decimals, compare values, and strengthen place-value reasoning. These experiences will create an important foundation for students' future work with decimal operations. Thank you for giving our students engaging tools that make challenging mathematical ideas easier to see, discuss, and understand.","fullyFundedDate":1766339806535,"projectUrl":"project/building-understanding-hands-on-decimal/9953199/","projectTitle":"Building Understanding: Hands-On Decimal Frames for 4th Grade","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Solis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10249511_orig.jpg?crop=147,147,x0,y23&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1786316239183","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10249511"},{"teacherId":10249511,"projectId":10043630,"letterContent":"Thank you for helping us create a calmer, more organized classroom where students can focus, feel secure, and make the most of every minute. Because of your generosity, our classroom now has visual cube timers, calming tree-pattern light covers, an accordion file organizer, and a wall pocket chart. Each resource supports the predictable routines and organized environment our students need.\r\n\r\nThe visual timers give students a clear picture of how much time remains during independent work and transitions, helping them pace themselves and move between activities with less uncertainty. The light covers soften the harsh overhead lighting and help the room feel more comfortable. The file organizer and wall pockets give papers and materials consistent homes, allowing students to find what they need and take greater responsibility for keeping our classroom orderly.\r\n\r\nThese improvements may seem simple, but together they protect instructional time, reduce distractions, and help students arrive ready to learn. We will continue using these tools as students strengthen their independence, organization, and focus. Thank you for investing in a learning space where every child can feel prepared, supported, and successful.","fullyFundedDate":1769332572626,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-calm-organized-classroom-for/10043630/","projectTitle":"Creating a Calm, Organized Classroom for Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Solis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10249511_orig.jpg?crop=147,147,x0,y23&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1786316239183","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10249511"},{"teacherId":10249511,"projectId":9953198,"letterContent":"Thank you for providing our classroom with LCD writing tablets! These boards have made math instruction more active, collaborative, and welcoming. Students use them to solve problems, draw models, compare strategies with partners, and revise their work without worrying about making a permanent mistake. When students first saw the tablets, they were excited to begin writing and eager to share their thinking with the class.\r\n\r\nOne especially meaningful change has been the increase in student participation. During math discussions, students can hold up their boards so I can quickly check their understanding and address misconceptions. The tablets also help students explain their reasoning using area models, fraction bars, equations, and diagrams. Students who previously hesitated to share are becoming more confident because they can test an idea, erase it, and try again.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue using the tablets during lessons on multi-digit multiplication, division, fractions, area, and perimeter. Students will work with partners to compare strategies, explain their reasoning, and improve their solutions. While it may seem like a simple piece of office equipment to some, to a teacher, it is an absolute game-changer.\r\n\r\nIn a busy classroom, preparation time is our most valuable resource. Prior to this, creating manipulatives, flashcards, and handouts was a slow, manual process that took away significant time from instructional planning. Thanks to your generosity, we have cut our prep time in half—literally!\r\n\r\nThe impact has been immediate. I am now able to create more complex and interactive learning materials for the students because the physical assembly is so much faster.
