This has helped us continue building a library collection that is welcoming, relevant, and representative of the diverse students we serve.\r\n\r\nThese books also give students the opportunity to learn about people whose lives and experiences may be different from their own. Through reading, students can explore new perspectives, develop empathy, and gain a greater appreciation for the experiences and contributions of others. These connections help turn reading into more than an academic activity—it becomes an opportunity for students to better understand themselves and the world around them.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, this project has helped strengthen our culture of reading by putting engaging and meaningful books into the hands of our middle school students. When students can connect personally with the characters and stories they encounter, they are more likely to become invested in reading, explore new books, and see our library as a place where they belong.
