By using grids to design a map of the United States in a pixelated, video game-style format, students are practicing mathematical skills such as measurement, proportion, and spatial reasoning. Each square they place requires careful attention to alignment and color coordination, reinforcing the idea that precision and detail matter when building a larger picture. At the same time, the project strengthens geographic knowledge, as students become more familiar with the shapes and boundaries of individual states while contributing to a collective map.\r\n Beyond academics, the project highlights the importance of collaboration and ownership. Every student's contribution of squares adds to the overall design, showing how individual effort connects to community success. The finished map becomes more than just an art piece-it is a symbol of teamwork, perseverance, and creativity. Students leave the project with a deeper appreciation for how small actions, when coordinated thoughtfully can create something meaningful and lasting.","fullyFundedDate":1758285378133,"projectUrl":"project/pixel-power-art-meets-video-games/9677477/","projectTitle":"Pixel Power: Art Meets Video Games","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Tallent","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1769001"},{"teacherId":9294115,"projectId":9400675,"letterContent":"Our blended Pre-K classroom has been absolutely loving our new Magna-Tile sets!
