The students created modeling clay cellphone holders as gifts for their parents for Christmas. They researched designs and created the holders with modeling clay. Students painted and designed the holders and were so excited to create a different medium of functional art. My goal this year is to teach my students that creating functional art is important to our everyday lives.\r\n\r\nThe students were so excited to receive the materials and understand that Donor's Choose exists to create an opportunity for teachers to receive materials for educational experiences. Unfortunately, our school does not have any non-allocated funds and often the burden is on their teachers to provide the materials at their own expense. This is my first time being awarded and I found the experience to be enriching and humbling. I received donations from people and companies that do not know about my school and are located in different states.
