This space has already made a meaningful difference for my students.\r\n\r\nThe students truly enjoy sitting on the fruit slice pillows, where they feel comfortable and calm. They often use the new crayons to draw out feelings they can't yet put into words, which has been especially helpful for emotional expression. Some students choose to read the social-emotional learning books in the quiet corner to help regulate their emotions and refocus before returning to learning.\r\n\r\nBecause of your kindness, I see a positive change in our classroom environment. Students are better able to manage their emotions, take needed breaks, and rejoin the class ready to learn. This quiet corner has become a safe and supportive space for many of my students.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity and for making such a positive impact on our classroom.\r\n\r\nSincerely,\r\nMrs. Harper","fullyFundedDate":1761660427172,"projectUrl":"project/color-me-calm/9792898/","projectTitle":"Color Me Calm","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Harper","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9353305"},{"teacherId":868731,"projectId":9879719,"letterContent":"As you can see my students love our new materials!! Right now we have workstations and the students are engineering circuits and the light show. I also reviewed constellations with our constellation projector. Since we have such bad light pollution in Memphis, many students have never seen all of the constellations. They were so excited to find all that we have learned about. The glue and activator are being used to make slime to study chemical changes and investigate the conservation of matter. The food coloring helped up make beautiful salt snowflakes to demonstrate physical changes. These materials make learning science my class's favorite activity of the work. It's been such a joy to see how the new books have transformed our classroom environment. One specific moment that really stood out was when a group of students eagerly gathered around the new Dog Man collection, each trying to pick their favorite volume to read first. Watching their faces light up with excitement was truly heartwarming.\r\nWhen my students first saw the new materials, their reaction was pure joy. There were cheers, wide eyes, and even a few happy dances! They couldn't believe these books were now part of our classroom—and just for them. Junie B. Jones has also become a big hit, especially among some of my reluctant readers who now can't wait to see what Junie gets up to next.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, reading has become not just an assignment, but a passion. Our next steps include using these books for small group discussions and creative response projects where students will illustrate and write their own sequels to their favorite stories. The math posters are a great resource for children to refer back to when solving word problems.\r\n\r\nI put the decorations up while the students were at lunch. When they came back they said, \"what!! you didn't tell us we got a new rug!\" They immediately wanted to sit on it. They were even more impressed that my past students would do something so extraordinary for us. They felt like you all were real role models, and then they told me all they things they are going to buy me someday when they get a job! LOL. As the packages began to arrive the students became more excited about their projects. \r\n The students began looking for videos on sculpting clay. The project took a total of four days. First, the students used the trays and sculpting tools to mold the animal eyes, paying attention to the details they read about. Once the molds were dry the students began painting. They have allowed me to give a more in-depth background and perspective to class projects. I allow students to read the books in class for early finishers, but I mainly use them as read aloud books to accompany various projects. \r\n\r\nFor example, a few of the book's deal with cultural pride and identity. I made a connects with the books to enhance a project and the significance of the celebrations of ancestors with art. We researched the some of the visual similarities of two holidays, Halloween and The Day of the Dead but established the meaning and cultural significance behind the imagery was drastically different. They asked every single day, every class and grade \"When are the fish coming!!!\" \r\n\r\nSoon as we returned after the break, some were disappointed expecting to see the fish right away, but they did not have to wait long!
