These books have created excitement around reading and given students a shared reading experience that can spark conversations, recommendations, and a stronger sense of community in the library.\r\n\r\nThroughout the school year, we plan to encourage students to read the Volunteer State Book Award nominees and discover their favorites. Students will have the opportunity to discuss the books they read, recommend titles to their peers, and ultimately vote for the book they believe deserves to win. This project turns reading into an interactive experience and gives students a voice in celebrating great literature. For some students, magazines have become a comfortable entry point into reading, helping them build confidence and develop a stronger love of reading.\r\n\r\nThe magazines have also sparked curiosity and encouraged students to explore beyond the pages. A student may begin by reading an article about an artist, current event, or interesting story and then ask questions, look for additional information, or seek out a related book from the library. One magazine can lead to a whole new reading adventure!
