Instead of simply memorizing facts, students became deeply invested in learning about their chosen animals through topics we have covered during the year, such as adaptations, environments, food chains, and evolution, while creating their own interactive dodecahedron projects. Even students who are typically hesitant to engage with others were excited and engaged because they could express their learning in a creative, hands-on way. \r\n\r\nWhen students first heard of the project, they were immediately excited by the idea of creating something three-dimensional and unique. Many have never completed a project like this before, and it sparked curiosity from the very beginning. Beyond the biology content itself, students also practiced important skills like conducting research, evaluating reliable sources, organizing information, and paraphrasing in their own words. \r\n\r\nMoving forward, students will continue to build on what they learned through classroom discussions and future activities on ecosystems, evolution, and environmental change. Thank you for helping provide an experience that made science feel more creative, engaging, and memorable for my students.","fullyFundedDate":1771733451662,"projectUrl":"project/bringing-biology-to-life-3d-science-mod/10109923/","projectTitle":"Bringing Biology to Life: 3d Science Models for Real-World Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Montgomery","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7908557_orig.jpg?crop=1242,1242,x0,y78&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1771522401827","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7908557"},{"teacherId":10430800,"projectId":10088556,"letterContent":"We ordered additional cameras for our yearbook staff use. We only had a few cameras, and all of them are pretty high tech pieces that are very useful for sports events and major events but require some photography knowledge to use. In the past, we also used cell phones for more of the daily in school footage for social media, photos for mods, and interviews. However, this year, our state passed a ban on student cell phone usage during the school day (which, for teachers, has been awesome! But hard for yearbook). \r\nTherefore, we wrote this grant to get some basic point and shoot cameras plus a good little one for video footage for our social media. It has already been wonderful and used regularly and is especially a benefit for the kids who aren't comfortable with the more complicated, more challenging devices that we already had. Because of your generosity, my seniors have been able to create Senior Dedications as gifts to those who have impacted their education and growth. Your donation gave them the freedom to imagine gratitude beyond a simple note and to instead create keepsakes for their recipients. \r\n\r\nThe aesthetic lighting and silencing tennis balls have made a major impact in our classroom. One of my special-needs students commented on the silencing effect the very day I debuted the new tennis balls on chairs! It creates a more flexible space as we are able to pull desks and chairs into new formations without the ensuing chaotic noise. Our \r\nnew lighting allows for calm as we work on devices to complete writing and research assignments or need task lighting for reading. \r\nYour support has made a real difference as we are able to stay organized with a nice and modern filing cabinet. Supplies and make-up work are now readily available! This new comfortable space has prompted students to call our space \"cozy\" and has created a welcoming space for students and visiting teachers who also use our room. \r\nWe are grateful that you chose to invest in our success at CHS! They began by choosing topics that felt relevant to their lives—ranging from current issues to personal interests—and worked collaboratively to research, write, and produce their own podcasts. This process allowed them to practice critical literacy skills in a meaningful, real-world context. One of the most rewarding moments was watching students step into their roles during recording: getting creative, laughing at themselves and adjusting their tone, revising their scripts, and thinking deeply about how to engage an audience. The addition of high-quality microphones transformed this experience; students were incredibly excited to hear the difference in sound and took pride in creating something that felt polished and professional.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, there was an immediate buzz of excitement in the room. Students were eager to test the microphones and couldn't wait to begin recording. What stood out most was how quickly their mindset shifted. They weren't just completing an assignment anymore; they were creating content! That sense of authenticity increased their engagement, collaboration, and attention to detail throughout the entire process.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, students will continue refining their podcasts by incorporating feedback, strengthening their arguments, and enhancing their storytelling techniques. We are also exploring opportunities to share their work with a wider audience, giving students a real platform for their voices. This project has not only strengthened their reading, writing, and speaking skills, but it has also empowered them to see themselves as creators and communicators. Your support has made this experience possible, and it has had a lasting impact on how my students view learning and their own voices.","fullyFundedDate":1771108279442,"projectUrl":"project/voices-vision-podcasting-literacy-a/10097844/","projectTitle":"Voices & Vision: Podcasting, Literacy, and Learning in English Class","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Faulkner","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10435033"},{"teacherId":10436503,"projectId":10099471,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for all the supplies for my interactive notebooks.
