The books that you helped fund assisted me differentiating reading way easier. I teach Spanish 1, 2, and now 3. Within my class, students are all at different proficiency levels with Spanish. Some students walk into Spanish 1 without any prior Spanish exposure. Other students have been speaking Spanish their whole lives and are very fluent; however, they struggle with reading and writing. Finally, some students have been speaking English and Spanish their whole lives and are bilingual. With the the variety of reading options and variety of levels the books provide, I can meet all the needs of my students. \r\n\r\nLast year Spanish 1 read a class novel. The novel was meant for novice readers (beginner learners). Obviously, this book would have been way too easy for my more fluent speakers. I was able to give them the option of choosing a book that was funded by YOU! Before, I maybe had two options and they all had to read the same book no matter if they really liked it or not. Now, they have a CHOICE! \r\n\r\nI start class with FVR (Free Voluntary Reading) as a warm-up. I was able to start this because I now have more books! I have many options that THE STUDENTS are able to choose from. The options provide students with different proficiency levels to read a book that matches their level. \r\n\r\nAt the end of last year, I packed all the books into a cupboard so they were out of the custodians way while cleaning our floors during the summer. My mom came up to help me put my classroom back together. As she was putting the books onto the bookshelves, she says, \"Anna, this is SO amazing that you have all these books for your students!\" \r\n\r\nTHANK you again for donating to my project! My students and I are deeply appreciative!","fullyFundedDate":1723675961132,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-library-building-spanish-prof/8468141/","projectTitle":"Classroom Library: Building Spanish Proficiency","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hamm","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9499990_orig.jpg?crop=900,900,x0,y150&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1719243877687","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9499990"},{"teacherId":8106340,"projectId":9139177,"letterContent":"I want to take this opportunity to thank you again for your generous donation to my classroom. As I stated in my project request, I feel that it is important for students to be exposed to many different kinds of books, and having this project fulfilled does just that.\r\nWe live in a pretty homogeneous community, so it is great for students to be able to read about different cultures and situations. I really wanted to bring these banned and challenged books into my classroom so my students can read them on the off chance that they would ever become banned in my area.\r\nThe kids have really enjoyed having these books; even some of the students who don't usually enjoy reading have enjoyed some of the graphic novels I received! It has significantly cut the overall brightness in my room, which has been a very welcomed change. \r\n\r\nI have had multiple parents stop in for conferences or who are subbing who have said how much they love the covers and how it changes the appearance in my room. It's fun to have a touch of the outside in my room, and one that helps to reduce the glare of the fluorescent lights is a huge plus! \r\n\r\nThey were super easy to install, and I have had other teachers tell me they're going to order some too! I had started bringing in some \"The Office\" themed decor into my room to make it a little less serious, and when I saw this lined bulletin board paper, I knew it would be perfect seeing as \"The Office\" takes place in a paper company! Your donation helped to pull together my bulletin boards! \r\nThe laminator also helped me create some decor that I can use over and over again.
