They have come up with some of the most innovative ways to use bristle blocks, magnetic rods and balls, and magetic tiles. These materials make learning fun, and are perfect for preschoolers. Blocks of any kind teach spatial skills that are necessary for learning future math concepts. Magnets teach science concepts are just plain fun! \r\nAn unexpected bonus was the social learning that my students would gain with these new materials. New toys are always everyone's first choice, and my students have had opportunities to practice waiting their turn and sharing. They also are working cooperatively to create things and seeing the benefit of teamwork! My students have absolutely enjoyed and loved all the multicultural supplies. Each child can draw, paint, and create self portraits as well as drawing their family and friends using the multicultural crayons, paint and construction paper. \r\n\r\nThroughout the year we teach our students the difference between make- believe and real. Having these materials lets them draw and create pictures using similar colors that match them, instead of blue/purple bodies. From the first day to the last, my students draw a picture of them selves adding more and more detail as the year goes on. Most of my students have really never drawn before so this is an amazing process to watch as the year goes on.
